The Sierra no.3 project for DTG's Train Simulator started almost 6 months ago when we took a vote and it won! We had almost no precise technical information about this machine, so we could start its 3D construction. With the help of some colleagues, and a lot of attention to detail, we were able to create a base technical drawing of the locomotive ourselves, with technical information available on the internet, and once again, with the illustrious presence of information from colleagues that were kindly provided to us.

Now finally, the machine is being forged, with the greatest possible attention to its details and of course, within the confines of a 3D mesh and that Train Simulator 2022 encryption is supportable.

At first we thought it would be easy to recreate all of its painting variations that Sirra #3 had throughout her life, but we found that to be next to impossible; so yes, we will have these variations, the most striking ones perhaps, but not all.

You can also look forward to an original version of the 1891 locomotive, and probably a current version after its major overhaul. Weekly, or every 15 days we are updating our Facebook page with news about the project, stay tuned.

Thanks to our friends and customers, we can learn more and improve our products. That's what happened and resulted in a trip to our workshops with the Brooks 4-8-0, and now we're bringing him back with some small improvements but it will make all the difference during your experience.

What Were The Improvements?

During the finalization of this machine, we limited ourselves to a few details that we were sure would sooner or later be resolved. So they were resolved as soon as possible and the release went as we expected. However, little details are always the coolest, so we've added the following improvements:

- For all locos: The headlight brightness has been improved and the colorization adjusted.

- For EFCB unit: Now the auxiliary lights are working.

- For all locos: The whistle sound has been improved. You will now hear a longer "end".

- For all locos: The bell sound has been replaced and synchronized.

- For all locos: The max. speed has been set to 64mp/h. Following factory specifications.

Some people were unsure how to open the smokebox door and sand dome cap. On the locomotive shop page we list information that can be found in a simple .PDF manual that comes with the machine. But let's leave the image here to help you:

If you already own Brooks Mastodon's Bundle 1894, simply download this update below. For those who don't have it yet, she has already received the update in our store.

Thank you!

Finally, we are extremely pleased to announce another Machine Rail ™ release for your DTG Train Simulator and the last one this year 2021! This time, you'll take control of a powerful and massive 4-8-0 "Mastodon" made by Brooks in the late 19th century. Put it to the test and challenges to pull your heavy freight trains!

The Machine History

The 1890s brought another period of depressed sales following another financial crisis. The company produced 226 new locomotives in 1891, but only 90 new locomotives in 1894, among them, the great 4-8-0. The company briefly gained some positive publicity in 1895 when one of its locomotives held the land speed record for rail vehicles; a Brooks-built locomotive was driven at 92.3 mph (149 km/h) on the Lake Shore and Michigan Southern Railway on October 24, 1895.[1][6] Brooks also gained positive publicity for building some exceptionally large locomotives at the end of the 19th century, including locomotives for both Great Northern Railway and Illinois Central Railroad that were hailed as being the largest in the world.
